When I had turned 29 I had found out that there was going to be a gold mine opened in Victoria, Ballarat. I didn’t bother to waste any time on packing my clothes so I went on a boat and was on my way to Ballarat. On my way there I experienced that there were a lot of people with drugs on the boat. When my journey had ended, I had finally reached the goldfields.

I found out that there was a stream in which everyone had been panning for gold. After a few hours of panning, I had discovered a small nugget of gold. I became so excited. I had found my first nugget of gold. This had encouraged me more but my journey for finding gold had just began. A few weeks later I discovered a nugget larger than my other one. The nugget might have been worth 3000 pounds. I had become rich.

My experience in the gold mine was a once in a life opportunity. I have been really lucky to have found a large nugget of gold. The money I get from my nugget will surely buy me a new home or even make me rich. I would love to live in a new home. A new home is better than living in a small hut. I might also be able to afford some servants for my home. I’m as rich as ever. The gold I found made me really greedy. I tried not to waste my money on little things such as clothes because I had a lot of them. Even though I acted like I was greedy I wasn’t really. I tried to be as nice to everyone I could but it just didn’t work out that well. I just kept on being nice to everyone no matter the reason. I never gave up in making a good impression of myself.

Today I just feel sick. I didn’t want to pan for gold or do anything apart for sleeping. I only had 50 ounce left and getting a doctor in this area would cost me159 ounces. That’s more than triple the amount I have. As sick as I felt getting a doctor was no option. Even if I lose all my money at least I would have me health back. I had talked to a doctor on Monday and he had told me that I would recover but it would take some time. He had given me a cure but I’m not sure it would work. The disease was called Leukaemia. As time passed by I found out that I’d been recovering by huge amounts. A few weeks later I recovered. I became so cheerful but then I remembered I didn’t have any money left. I do hope that seeking my fortune isn't far away.

I have hit a pocket gold! Hoorah! I now need no help from others. I found a different type of gold flake which people would buy for a lot of money. Even though I had promised a friend named Sydney that I would return her the ten shillings borrowed but I don't even have enough money to pay her back. I wondered about how much my gold flakes would be sold for. I might get about five shillings from a stranger when it only costs three shillings. It is a really good plan but will it work? Not only will I get closer to paying Sydney back but I might be caught by the police. I changed my mind, I shall do what’s right and money doesn’t compare to being imprisoned. I’ll just sell the flakes for three shillings instead. Three shillings it was. Sold to the man that looked really rich. I thought to myself. If he buys more gold from me than anyone, I’ll be in business. I might have overestimated my ability to sell gold but I probably will find gold again and the rich man might just buy my gold flakes again.

I just found out what the rich man’s name is. His name is Freester. The mining tax has been introduced. I was shocked about having to pay eight pounds every month. What if I don’t find that much gold? How will I pay Sydney back? I don’t even have that much money. Life is tough and money is one of the most important things for me apart from my family. I really need to try hard and find gold. I got an idea! Maybe Freester the person that bought my gold flakes last time might be kind enough to lend me some money. But what if he doesn’t come again? What if he has migrated to another country? What if he is dead?
19th of July 1851
I have come up with a new plan. You might not know me as a person who kills people but I shall do what I have to do. I am planning o to kill Freester and take away all his money. I mean not murder him but instead poison him.
23rd of August 1851
The time had come for me to poison Freester. I shall invite him for tea and then poison the tea. I had become really desperate for money so I hadn’t another option. At noon I had decided to invite him over.
Noon had arrived and now I just had to poison Freester. I just didn't know what to do. I heard a knock on the door, I opened it and I saw Freester standing there. I had sat him down on a small table and went to the kitchen to make two cups of tea. I handed Frester a cup of tea but then I had just realised that I had given him the wrong one. It was too late. I had drunk the one with the poison in it. I thought about Sydney. I thought about how I would pay her back. I was dying anyway. I thought about my family. I just hoped they would be happy with what I had done in the gold fields. M y last words were; "I am Sorry Freester Please Forgive me"
